MUSIC FOR LIFE
Avila Music School & Memorial Library
The Avila Music School is a not-for-profit registered charitable organization that promotes music education. It embodies a co-operative of outstanding musician / teachers who, for a nominal monthly fee, rent studio space from the Avila Music School. Each teacher has his/her own students and fee structure and contracts with the student/parent for payment of those fees in exchange for music lessons.
Our reputation as “Avila” that began in 1967 continues.
Our commitment to being a quality music school in Thunder Bay is clear.
We accept PayPal for Registration
It is also important to note that:
…”a child is excused from attendance at school, if he/she is absent from school for the purpose of receiving instruction in music and the period of absence does not exceed one-half day in any week.”
– Section 6. (sub-sec.2.) of The Private Music Teacher & The School Administration Act
Parents wishing this privilege for their children are advised to discuss this matter with their children’s school teachers and principal.
For almost two decades, Avila Music School was like my second home — from my lessons as a 6-year-old beginner piano student, to my first experiences as a music teacher. For me, Avila has always been synonymous with high standards of teaching, a nurturing environment and a strong sense of community. I credit the performance skills I have today to the many times I stepped on the Avila stage in student recitals over the years.
Thank you to The Thunder Bay Community Foundation and the Hannah & Victor Stevenson Fund for awarding Avila Music School a grant towards our Music Library!
Thank you to all of our student performers for playing at our summer recital on June 21! Everyone did an amazing job! Have a good summer, and we look forward to seeing you back next year.
