Pianist Janelle Hutten has appeared as a soloist, collaborative artist, and chamber musician. Janelle completed her undergraduate degree in Piano Performance at Western University, studying with Leslie Kinton and Brett Kingsbury. She completed her Master’s degree in Piano Performance at Western University under Stephan Sylvestre. Janelle has participated in vocal/piano masterclasses with Rena Sharon and Marianna Chibotar-Rutkevich. She has also played in chamber masterclasses for artists including Peter Longworth and Wesley Ferriera and has had extensive chamber coachings with clarinetist, Robert Riseling. In addition to performing, Janelle is passionate about teaching and has taught privately for several years. She trains her students in creativity, theory, history, ear-training, technique, and music appreciation. Janelle has also completed a Social Work degree at Lakehead University and strongly believes in music’s ability to positively affect students’ mental health. She is excited to be continuing her teaching career at Avila Music School.
